So far one of our trips this year has been to Carlingford adventure centre. It was a bonding trip for the year to get to know each other better. On the morning we were leaving i got up at 6 o' clock to get ready to be at Esso for 7. It felt like the middle of the night! I was at Esso by 7 and we all got on the bus to go. When everyone was there and ready to go we started towards Carlingford. The journey was an hour and a half and it flew in. Everyone was in a great mood and excited to be going. When we got there we all went straight to the volleyball court to get our rooms and they told us where the common rooms were and what times we would be eating at and when our activities were. Our first activity was canoeing with three boats attached together, we canoed over to the beach it was really hard because if one person wasn't paddling properly it would slow down the whole canoe. When we got to the beach we went into a tunnel where we had to sit underneath a waterfall for 10 seconds! It was freeeezing!! Then we went back to the centre for lunch and to get changed and get ready for whatever we would be doing next. The next thing we done was a challenge course, we had to work together to make it easier because we only had a certain amount of time, that was fun because there was a few different activities involved and the last one was a maze where we had to crawl around in the pitch dark and find our way out, that was really hard because half of the team went one way and the other half got lost somewhere and didn't get out, when that was over we went back for dinner, the we had two hours before we had to out again, we just found our way around the village and the centre. Then we got called and had to go up a mountain with blindfolds on following a rope, that was really fun!
That night we went up to the common room and there was music playing and the other school that was staying in the centre were there aswell, it was really fun, like a disco, we were up there for a few hours and then we went to bed!
The next day was short because we had to be home by 7 o' clock, when we got up that morning we had to pack up our stuff and strip our bed, you would be surprised how messy a room can get just from one day and an overnight! Then when we were all packed we had to bring our bags up to the sports hall and leave the, there for the day while we went out. We done laser tag and kayaking, the kayaking was first and again, we went over to the beach and just stayed on the beach while people came in and out from the water trampoline, later that day we went back up the mountain and played laser tag for the last activity, that was by far the best thing we'd done in the two days, we got to wear camouflage overalls and hold guns! It was the best, I had so much fun! afterwards we went back to the centre and go our stuff and headed towards the bus, the journey home felt so much longer than it did on the way up! But we got home eventually and got picked up from Esso at around 7!
Overall I thought Carlingford was so much fun, it was such a good experience and the whole year bonded, I would love to go back!
It was a great few days!!
